The Wuppertal artist Tony Cragg will be awarded the European Cultural Prize on 4 September 2026 at the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam as one of the most significant sculptors of the present day. The prize will be given by Felix Krämer, General Director of Kunstpalast. 

 

With the honor, the European Cultural Forum acknowledges an artist who has shaped contemporary sculpture for decades and has given it new impulses worldwide.

 

“Tony Cragg is one of the most significant sculptors of our time,” explains Reiner Schränkler, chairman of the European Culture Forum. “His works uniquely connect science, nature, material research, and artistic vision. He has profoundly changed international sculpture and inspired generations of artists.”
