The exhibition "Matisse's Femme au chapeau: A Modern Scandal" at SFMOMA, San Francisco includes – beyond the painting that has been integral to the museum's history – works by Matisse’s peers to artists working today, such as Rachel Harrison. It explores through modern masterpieces and a diverse group of contemporary artworks how this famed painting has shaped perceptions about color, content, form, and expression beyond its time.
